Kalaveti Ravouvou, the former Flying Fijians and Bristol Bears center, displayed exceptional talent with two tries in his team’s 54-24 victory over Leicester at Welford Road. This match marked a record-setting performance for the Bears, who scored an impressive 40 points in the first half alone, achieving six tries from just six visits to the opposition’s 22.
In just his third match of the current Premiership season, Ravouvou has already tallied five tries and has started all three matches since Round 6. He currently trails teammate Gabriel Ibitoye, who is leading the league in scoring.
Bristol Bears showcased their dominance by scoring eight tries overall, compared to five tries by Leicester. One of Ravouvou’s highlights came in the 35th minute when he executed a clever break from deep within his own territory, setting up a spectacular sequence that culminated in a try for Richard Lane after a remarkable offload from Ibitoye.
Remarkably, Ravouvou scored a sensational solo try after breaking free from the 22-meter mark, a moment many are calling the try of the season. The Bears led convincingly at halftime with a score of 40-12.
Bristol Bears head coach Pat Lam praised his team’s performance, emphasizing the importance of confidence and skill demonstrated during the first half. He acknowledged that while the second half wasn’t as strong, the team remains focused and eager to build on their success as they prepare for a match against Sale on Friday night.
This victory not only highlights the Bears’ capabilities as a team but also underscores Ravouvou’s rising prominence within the league. As the season progresses, fans and teammates alike are optimistic about what lies ahead for both Ravouvou and the Bristol Bears.
