Kalaveti Ravouvou, the Flying Fijians centre, made an impressive return by scoring two tries in his first match of the season for the Bristol Bears. His efforts were crucial in securing a 31-23 bonus-point victory against a significantly altered Northampton side, marking Bristol’s first home win of the season.
The game started with Northampton taking an early 15-0 lead within the first 20 minutes, thanks to contributions from George Hendy and Josh Kemeny. However, Bristol quickly responded with two rapid tries from Ravouvou and Gabriel Ibitoye, bringing them back into the match.
Ravouvou’s second try allowed the Bears to edge ahead, and Joe Batley’s score added a fourth try just 10 minutes before the end, effectively sealing the game for Bristol. Although James Ramm scored for Northampton with just a minute remaining, it was too late for the visitors, who suffered their sixth consecutive defeat in the Premiership.
This victory marks Bristol’s fourth straight win over Northampton and positions them 10 points ahead of their rivals at the top of the table as the weekend’s fixtures approach.
