A Fijian citizen is among seven foreign nationals arrested in Australia as part of an investigation into a significant theft ring targeting high-end Toyota vehicles. The group is facing accusations of stealing cars valued at approximately nine million dollars from the streets of Brisbane.
Authorities believe these individuals may be part of an international criminal syndicate suspected of exporting stolen vehicles to the United Arab Emirates for resale. In addition to the Fijian national, the group includes individuals from Japan, Brazil, and Afghanistan.
The suspects have been charged with over 300 offenses following investigations that began late last year in response to a surge in Toyota thefts throughout Brisbane. The vehicles targeted predominantly include popular models such as Land Cruisers and Prados.
Reports indicate that the conspirators arrived in Brisbane in October 2025, allegedly stealing at least 60 vehicles within a short period from October 20 to December 1. Authorities, specifically the Queensland Police, are continuing their investigations to uncover the full scope of the syndicate’s network and affiliations.
This operation highlights the growing issue of vehicle theft in urban areas, prompting law enforcement agencies to enhance their efforts in combating such crimes.
