The Health and Medical Services Ministry has recently launched an extensive outreach program in Cakova Village, located in Moala, aimed at enhancing healthcare access for Fijians, particularly those residing in maritime islands. This initiative provided vital medical consultations, check-ups, dental care, and HIV/AIDS awareness services, all under the guidance of Dr. Fifita Niulevu.
A dedicated public health team from Lakeba focused on educating the community about HIV/AIDS prevention, testing, and the significance of early diagnosis while advocating for reduced stigma associated with the disease. The outreach program specifically aimed to address healthcare disparities in remote areas by delivering essential services and health education, particularly in hygiene, dental care, and overall wellness.
The Ministry of Health is devoted to ensuring that healthcare reaches Fiji’s maritime regions and plans to extend its outreach efforts to other villages in Moala in the future.
This initiative not only highlights the importance of healthcare accessibility in remote areas but also embodies a proactive approach to public health education. By focusing on prevention and openness, the program fosters a healthier, more informed community.
As the Ministry continues its critical work, there is a hopeful outlook for improving health outcomes and ensuring that quality healthcare services are available to all Fijians, regardless of their geographic location.
