The recently completed access road to the Daulomani Safe Home in Lautoka marks a substantial improvement for the vulnerable populations it serves, including neglected women and children. This project, funded with a $40,000 investment from the Ministry for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, alleviates the previous difficulties faced by residents who had to navigate muddy sugarcane fields daily to reach the facility.

Established in 2018, the Daulomani Home aims to provide shelter and support for those in need. The lack of proper road access had posed significant challenges for daily activities, impacting the safety and convenience of both residents and staff.

Assistant Minister Jovesa Vocea spoke about the significance of the Daulomani Home Access Project, highlighting its alignment with the government’s broader vision of inclusivity and equal access to services for all Fijians, regardless of their circumstances. Vocea urged the community to take ownership of this investment, ensuring its upkeep for future generations seeking refuge and healing at the home.

This initiative echoes similar government investments across Fiji aimed at enhancing rural infrastructure and connectivity. Such projects not only address immediate logistical challenges but also symbolize hope and resilience for many communities working towards upliftment. For instance, the recent construction of access roads in other regions has significantly improved residents’ access to essential services and opportunities for economic and social development.

The enhancing infrastructure represents a commitment to improved quality of life for rural communities, fostering a spirit of unity and shared responsibility among residents. The future looks brighter with continued collaboration between government efforts and community engagement, opening doors to new possibilities for growth and support.
