Marica Waqaniburotu has a strong dedication to service. The Fiji National University graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree quickly immersed herself in hospital activities just two days after beginning her placement. This hands-on experience is part of her academic program as she gains valuable skills in a healthcare environment.
Following her recent achievement, Waqaniburotu’s ambitions have expanded beyond her hospital responsibilities. She is now committed to highlighting the beauty and potential of the Northern Division. “The Northern Division has so much to offer in terms of natural beauty and cultural heritage,” she stated.
One of her key objectives is to collaborate with local officials to explore and execute strategies aimed at enhancing opportunities in the North. “A new port would not only improve logistical connections but also attract more tourists to the North,” she explained. Waqaniburotu believes that this development could generate job opportunities and invigorate the local economy.
