The Grand Pacific Hotel was vibrant last Thursday as the Chinese Embassy organized the “China Guizhou Bridge Construction Art Photography Exhibition” to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.
The event attracted government ministers, members of the diplomatic community, leaders from the local Chinese community, and other guests.
During his keynote address, Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Zhou Jian highlighted Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s recent state visit to China, which took him from the hilly southwest to the coastal east, and from rural villages to Beijing. He noted that this visit, which showcased China’s transformation from poverty to prosperity, marked a new chapter in the relationship between China and Fiji.
“China and Fiji are both peace-loving nations. We must collaborate to tackle global challenges, transforming division into unity, confrontation into cooperation, and exclusion into inclusion, thereby bringing stability to a turbulent world,” Ambassador Zhou stated.
The exhibition featured impressive photographs of innovative bridge construction in Guizhou, representing not just engineering excellence but a broader story of progress and connectivity.
“These bridges embody the spirit of cooperation that characterizes China-Fiji relations,” he said, emphasizing that the partnership has prospered over the years through initiatives such as Chinese government scholarships and various aid projects.
“Together, we can continue to create a brighter future for both our nations and peoples,” he concluded.
