“Breaking: Tribunal Set to Investigate Suspended DPP – Find Out More!”

The Judicial Services Commission has announced that the tribunal investigating suspended Director of Public Prosecutions, Christopher Pryde, will convene next month. The hearing is scheduled to take place from August 19 to August 30, and the tribunal’s report will be submitted to the Office of the President by September 23.

According to a statement from the Commission, the suspended DPP has been notified of the hearing dates. Acting Chief Justice Salesi Temo mentioned that the tribunal began its work in February 2024 and has already conducted several pre-hearing meetings with Pryde’s legal team.

Justice Temo also noted that an additional complaint against Pryde has been forwarded, alleging unlawful payment of benefits under his contract, amounting to $288,999.13.

The JSC has recommended, and the President has agreed, that Pryde’s salary be suspended pending the tribunal’s findings. The suspended DPP has been informed of these actions. Justice Temo emphasized that while the JSC respects the rights and freedom of the press to cover this matter, it has refrained from commenting further as the issue is sub judice before the Presidential tribunal.
