Police Constable Sadamma from Labasa Police Station has proven that women can excel in balancing multiple roles, such as being police officers, mothers, and wives. Her inspiring message comes after she received a Long Service and Good Conduct medal, along with 37 other police personnel from the Northern Division, at a ceremony officiated by Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew at the Labasa Civic Centre.

With an impressive 20-year career in the Fiji Police Force, PC Sadamma has served in various stations including Totogo Police Station in Suva and Lautoka Police Station. Reflecting on her journey, she acknowledged the challenges of working in a historically male-dominated environment but credited her success to the unwavering support of her family and superiors. “At first, it wasn’t easy,” she shared, “but with their backing, I managed to navigate my responsibilities effectively.”

Currently working in the Sexual Offence Unit, PC Sadamma focuses on sensitive cases involving children and women, reinforcing her commitment to helping vulnerable populations. “I chose to become a Policewoman because I wanted to help others, especially women and children,” she expressed, emphasizing her passion for community service.

In her address, she encouraged young women aspiring to enter law enforcement, stating, “Nothing comes easy in life; everyone must either work hard or smart to have a fulfilling career.” Her journey symbolizes not only her personal achievements but also highlights a significant progression toward gender equality in law enforcement.
