Police Constable Sadamma from the Labasa Police Station recently emphasized the remarkable capability of women to excel as police officers, mothers, and wives. Her comments came after she received a Long Service and Good Conduct medal alongside 37 other officers from the Northern Division during a ceremony officiated by Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew at the Labasa Civic Centre.

With two decades dedicated to the Fiji Police Force, Sadamma’s journey includes service at various stations such as Totogo Police Station in Suva and Lautoka Police Station. Reflecting on her experience, she noted that navigating the male-dominated environment was challenging in the beginning. However, the unwavering support from her family and understanding superiors enabled her to thrive in her role. “It wasn’t easy at first, but I managed to perform my duties effectively with their help,” she shared.

Currently serving in the Sexual Offence Unit, PC Sadamma primarily addresses sensitive cases concerning children and women, asserting, “I chose to become a Policewoman because I wanted to help others, especially women and children.” Her commitment to supporting vulnerable communities speaks volumes about her dedication to her profession.

In encouraging young women aspiring to enter law enforcement, PC Sadamma remarked, “Nothing comes easy in life; everyone must either work hard or smart to have a fulfilling career.” Her words resonate as a motivational message, underscoring the importance of perseverance and resilience in achieving one’s ambitions.
