Ema Bi, a 46-year-old mother of two and dedicated nurse practitioner from Tuatua, Labasa, has made headlines by winning multiple awards at her graduation from the TISI Sangam College of Nursing and Health Care Education. She received a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Leadership and Management, along with six prestigious awards, notably for Overall Academic Excellence and excellence in key areas like Nursing Leadership in the 21st Century and Strategic Management in Nursing.

Reflecting on her personal journey, Ms. Bi spoke about the difficult times following the death of her husband, Ashad Ali, who had always encouraged her to pursue her dreams. With his support in mind, she balanced her postgraduate studies alongside a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Ms. Bi attributes her success to the encouragement of her mentor, Selina Waqa Ledua of the Fiji National Council, as well as the support of her family and friends. She emphasizes that her graduation marks not the end but the beginning of new opportunities, stating, “With a positive mindset, anything is possible.”

With 24 years of nursing experience, she considers nursing the most rewarding profession, one that allows her to impact lives positively. Her aspirations include becoming a chief nurse, and she encourages others, especially mothers and widows, to aim high despite challenges. “Age is just a number. God has given us one life to live; make it count,” she inspires.
