An investigation is currently underway regarding an alleged break-in at the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption warehouse in Raiwai on Tuesday night. Police reports indicate that one or more unknown individuals unlawfully entered the premises, resulting in the theft of a chainsaw and an electronic device. The suspect or suspects managed to escape the scene following the burglary.
Raiwaqa Crime officers are actively pursuing leads as they continue their investigation into the case.
This incident follows a series of recent break-ins in Fiji, notably including a burglary at the official residence of the Commissioner of the Fiji Corrections Service in Nasese on September 29. In that instance, despite the property being fortified and monitored by personnel, thieves managed to enter and steal valuable traditional artifacts, including a whale’s tooth known as a tabua. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in either incident, highlighting a small silver lining amid the ongoing concerns regarding security.
As investigations proceed, community members are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, reinforcing the collective effort to enhance safety and security in Fiji.
