The Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) is currently investigating a brawl that occurred during the Fiji heavyweight title fight, as well as another related incident during the Bluewater Boxing Promotion event at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on Saturday night.
This inquiry was prompted by the Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, who has requested the Commission to make an announcement regarding the penalties for those involved in the altercation by today.
Saukuru expressed his concern about the circumstances surrounding the incident, emphasizing that such behaviors are unacceptable in professional boxing. He stated, “Boxing is a sport. People are trying to exercise their power, but I have asked them to investigate.”
According to Saukuru, footage from the event shows that boxer Dauloloma was performing well, indicating that the situation should not have escalated to violence.
BCF chairman Adi Narayan confirmed that a press conference will be held this morning in Suva to address the issue.
