International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Asia Pacific super welterweight champion Winston Hill is set to face Australia’s Lachlan O’Shea in the main event at Nadi’s Prince Charles Park tonight. Hill, who weighed in at 68.45 kilograms, will take on O’Shea, who tipped the scales at 69.8 kilograms during the official weigh-in.
Hill is hoping for a dual celebration, as his brother Jonathan Hill is competing against Siliveni Nawai for the Fiji super middleweight title in one of the undercard matches. “We are ready to dominate our fights as we have been spending a long time together in training camp,” Hill stated. He expressed excitement for the fight night, highlighting the significance of the event with numerous prestigious titles at stake. “Prince Charles Park will come alive with the ring announcer and Sonny Bill Williams being present for the night. Team Hill is here, and it is different as I’m fighting alongside my brother as he pursues a national title.”
In another bout, Sebastian ‘The Sniper’ Singh is aiming to capture the IBO Asia Pacific cruiserweight title from Australia’s knockout specialist, ‘King’ Tonga Tongotongo. Singh, who already holds the World Boxing Foundation Asia Pacific cruiserweight title, weighed in at 89.75 kilograms, while Tongotongo was recorded at 87.55 kilograms. “I’m excited for the hard work we have put in against my opponent,” Singh remarked, staying cautious about making predictions, adding, “Whatever happens, happens.”
Additionally, Fiji super middleweight titleholder Siliveni Nawai weighed in at 75.5 kilograms, compared to Hill’s 74.8 kilograms. Nawai, nicknamed “Hands of Stone,” stated, “I have prepped for this fight and I’ll await what Hill has in store for me.”
