The anticipated boxing match between Ubayd Haider and Mikaele Ravalaca is set for February 22, 2025. This announcement was made by Haider’s manager, Alan Kumar, who is currently coordinating with Ravalaca’s Australian manager, Gus Wahab. Kumar is reviving Bula Boxing Promotions for next year, with the inaugural event scheduled for the same date.
Kumar stated, “After receiving confirmation from the Boxing Commission of Fiji for February 22, 2025, I communicated with Mikaele Ravalaca’s manager, Gus Wahab. He is a very decent person; we had a productive conversation regarding facilitating this fight for fans.”
While both teams are committed to the fight, discussions about the purse are still ongoing. Kumar mentioned, “There are positive signs, and we are currently negotiating the purse. We proposed around $5,000, which they have not yet accepted. We hope to reach an agreement by the end of Friday, and we aim to sign the contract next week.”
As an events manager with Bula Events Group and promoter of the Bula Boxing event, Kumar expressed his determination to ensure the fight takes place under his promotion. “I am the only one who can facilitate this fight because I manage Ubayd Haider, and he will heed my direction. We are not avoiding anyone; we have other fights scheduled for this year. We want the public to witness this match. We apologize for the wait, but Haider is preparing for an IBO title fight on October 26 in Nadi against an Australian opponent. This is crucial for us, and we are proceeding step-by-step, looking forward to February 22,” he explained.
The event will take place at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
