Two prominent Australian boxers have been officially announced for the South Pacific Boxing Promotions event scheduled for October 26 at Prince Charles Park in Nadi. This confirmation was made by SPBP promoter Fred Chand after the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) sanctioned the matches.
In the main event, IBO Asia Pacific and Fiji super welterweight champion Winston Hill will go up against the hard-hitting Lachlan O’Shea. O’Shea is known for his competitive spirit, having previously challenged Australia National Boxing Federation’s Queensland title and pushed Australia welterweight champion Joel Taylor to the limit.
Chand noted, “Both the IBO title fights will feature world-class boxers.” The second bout presents a significant opportunity for local fighter Sebastian ‘The Sniper’ Singh to enhance his world rankings. Singh currently holds the World Boxing Foundation (WBF) Asia Pacific cruiserweight title and will face unbeaten Sydney-based ‘King’ Tonga Tongotongo for the vacant IBO Asia Pacific cruiserweight title.
Chand emphasized the importance of competition, stating, “To be the best in the world, you’ve got to fight the best. We’re grateful to Sebastian for taking this opportunity.” Records show that Tongotonga has a perfect record, having won all of his eight professional fights.
Chand also mentioned they are currently working on the undercard fights and will provide an official announcement once it has been sanctioned by the Boxing Commission of Fiji. Additionally, SPBP director Mohammed Shameem confirmed plans to bring renowned Australian ring announcer Steve Peios and a professional boxing referee for the event.
