Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) chairman Adi Narayan emphasized the commitment to providing all boxers equal opportunities during the launch of the Bluewater Boxing Promotion last Thursday at Holiday Inn, Suva. He stated that the BCF will not take sides regarding the disparity in the number of fights among the boxers competing in matches.
Narayan articulated, “If a boxer has a record that does not match an opponent’s, the commission will not object to that.” He emphasized the essence of the sport as a contest rather than strictly a championship bout, encouraging fighters to prove themselves in the ring.
Narayan mentioned that Robin Hazelman is set to contend for the cruiserweight title against Alivereti Kauyaca, provided he secures a victory over Joseph Kwadjo in their upcoming match. “Give him a chance; he might knock him out, and we’ll see what happens during the Bluewater boxing promotions on February 22,” he noted. Hazelman and Kwadjo will be featured in the main event at the Vodafone Arena, which will host a total of 15 bouts.
This approach reiterates the spirit of sportsmanship in boxing, where every fighter is given a fair chance to showcase their skills, thus fostering a competitive and encouraging environment for emerging talents.
In summary, the BCF is promoting inclusivity in boxing, allowing fighters with varying levels of experience to compete, which can ultimately lead to surprising outcomes and exciting matches for fans. The February 22 event is shaping up to be an engaging showcase of potential and talent in the sport.
