Two heavyweight boxers have been suspended from boxing for four months by the Boxing Commission of Fiji. This decision came after a controversial incident during a fight on Saturday at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, involving Fiji heavyweight champion James ‘The Beast’ Singh and Semi Dauloloma.

Minister of Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru expressed his disappointment over the situation and called for swift action, following a meeting with BCF chairman Adi Narayan, who described the incident as disgraceful for the sport. Narayan expressed his concerns at a press conference, highlighting the Ministry’s stance on promoting sportsmanship among professional boxers.

Singh, who is the reigning heavyweight champion of Fiji, and Dauloloma, the holder of the Leweni Waqa Memorial heavyweight belt, will both see their boxing licenses suspended for the next four months. Narayan confirmed that this decision was made in consultation with the Minister of Sports, emphasizing that the suspension is meant to send a strong message to all boxers.

The altercation occurred during their third fight. Singh was knocked down by a hook from Dauloloma in the first round. As the second round progressed, both boxers fell to the canvas after a series of punches exchanged. Singh struck Dauloloma while he was on the floor, prompting referee Fatu Tuimanono to intervene. The situation escalated, resulting in heated exchanges between the fighters and their corner men, ultimately leading to the bout being declared a no-contest.

Despite the incident, Singh retains his title as the champion.
