Boxer Sebastian “Sniper” Singh expressed profound grief following the tragic passing of his younger brother, Ubayd Haider, who was also known as Nathan Singh. The 25-year-old boxer suffered a TKO defeat against Australia-based Runqi Zhou during an IBO Asia Pacific Super Featherweight title bout on October 26.

After the fight, Haider collapsed and was taken to Lautoka Aspen Hospital, where he remained until his death was announced just a day after the match. In a heartfelt tribute, Sebastian Singh stated, “I wish it was me instead,” highlighting the deep emotional bond they shared. He further expressed his sorrow, saying, “Your legacy will live on. Love you my bro.”

The boxing community mourns Haider’s untimely death, and his body will be displayed at the FMF Gymnasium on Tuesday, November 12, from 3 PM to 5 PM, with final rites to follow at Raralevu cemetery at 8:30 PM.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the risks athletes face in contact sports, and the outpouring of love on social media underscores the deep connections fostered within the boxing community. It is hoped that the legacy of Ubayd Haider will inspire future generations of boxers to pursue their dreams with dedication and perseverance, remembering the importance of health and safety in sports.
