Boxer Sebastian “Sniper” Singh expressed his profound sadness over the loss of his brother, Ubayd Haider, also known as Nathan Singh, who tragically passed away following a match on October 26. Haider succumbed to injuries after a TKO defeat against Runqi Zhou in an IBO Asia Pacific Super Featherweight title fight.

The 25-year-old fighter collapsed post-fight and was rushed to Lautoka Aspen Hospital, where he remained until his passing. In a heartfelt message, Sebastian reflected on the tragedy, stating, “Isa my bro, you really broke my heart. I wish it was me instead,” emphasizing the deep bond between the siblings. He continued with an emotional tribute in Fijian, asserting, “You will forever be in my heart. Your legacy will live on. Love you my bro.”

The community is invited to pay their respects, as Haider’s body will be displayed at FMF Gymnasium from 3 PM to 5 PM on November 12, with the final rites scheduled at Raralevu cemetery at 8:30 PM.

This heartfelt expression of loss highlights not only the personal tragedy for Singh and his family but also brings attention to the risks inherent in professional sports. While the boxing community mourns, it also cherishes the memories and legacy of athletes like Haider, who dedicate their lives to the sport.

In remembrance of Ubayd Haider, fans and fellow boxers may find solace in honoring his contributions to the sport and drawing inspiration from his journey.
