Jonathan Hill is eager to continue his winning streak in his second professional bout against Labasa’s Rupeni Rokoratu next month.
“Preparation has been good and my younger brother Winston and I are always ready,” Hill said. “My approach in this fight is to knock out Rokoratu to improve my ranking.”
Hill aims for a title fight if he can defeat Rokoratu. “This is my first time fighting Rokoratu, and it’s almost like amateur boxing where we just get in the ring and deal with it,” he stated. “My motivation to win is my son.”
Hill mentioned that he didn’t study his opponent, focusing instead on honing his own abilities and strength. “Having my younger brother Winston in my preparation has been great, and it might make my opponent cautious,” he added. “It’ll also be my first time fighting in Labasa.”
Hill won his first professional fight in the super middleweight division against Donasio Macedru at the Lewis Hill boxing promotions at Vodafone Arena, Suva last year. “I’m aiming to improve my fitness to secure a win,” he said. “I was unfit in my last fight, but I still got the job done.”
Hill has gained valuable experience from his previous professional bout. “I will be gunning for the super middleweight title of Fiji after this fight, and maybe even the light heavyweight title,” he revealed. “We’ll see who holds the title; I’ll be coming after them.”
