Bounty Rum, Fiji’s renowned rum brand, has become the primary sponsor of the Bounty Christmas Festival in Suva. This exciting event will weave the joy of Christmas with the lively beats of reggae music, promising a unique celebration for attendees.
Etrina Simpson, head of marketing for Bounty Rum, expressed the company’s enthusiasm for the festival, highlighting their ongoing commitment to various community initiatives. “Christmas is a time for togetherness, and what better way to celebrate than through music. We’re thrilled to support the Bounty Reggae Christmas Festival. It’s an incredible opportunity to unite people through the power of music,” Ms. Simpson stated, emphasizing the importance of music in bringing communities together.
Darlene Underwood, director of Pacific Coast Events & Promotions, shared her vision for the festival’s growth. She aims to expand the event from Suva to Nadi and potentially beyond, with hopes of transforming it into the Pacific’s premier reggae music festival. Underwood noted that reggae holds a special significance for islanders, stating, “We want to make this the Pacific’s go-to festival for reggae music.”
The upcoming 2024 festival is scheduled for December 21 and will showcase local reggae favorites such as Tana Music Fiji, Sweet Sensation, Chapter 5, 9PM Band, Sector 4, PowerBand, and 4 Quarters, along with special guest DJ Alby Eastgate.
This festival not only highlights the rich music culture in Fiji but also aims to foster community spirit and unity through a shared love of reggae melodies. With the support from Bounty Rum and the vision of its organizers, the Bounty Christmas Festival is poised to become a significant event in the region’s calendar, celebrating both Christmas and the vibrant culture of reggae music.
The hope is that this festival will inspire similar cultural events in the future, making music a central element in community bonding and celebration.
