A bouncer linked to a violent altercation in Suva early yesterday morning has been arrested by the police. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu confirmed that authorities are in the process of identifying and rounding up additional individuals involved in the incident.

ACPO Driu emphasized the importance of letting the police handle the situation and advised the public against taking matters into their own hands. He acknowledged the heightened emotions in the community and urged individuals to remain calm. “Those making threats on social media need to take a step back. Acting on emotions won’t resolve anything and could lead to further complications,” he stated.

A dedicated team from the Totogo Police Station has been engaging with residents of Namatakula Village, collecting statements from both witnesses and those involved. ACP Driu called for cooperation from the community, asking people to assist the police by providing necessary information while allowing the investigation to proceed.

The police are closely monitoring social media activity related to the incident and will remain vigilant to prevent any escalation of violence. As the New Year approaches, ACP Driu reassured the public of the police’s commitment to maintaining safety and security for everyone.

This situation underscores the importance of community cooperation in law enforcement efforts and highlights the ongoing need for calm and rational responses in the wake of conflicts.

In summary, the police are actively addressing a nightclub brawl in Suva by conducting investigations and urging public cooperation. Their commitment to safety, especially around the New Year, reflects a hopeful approach toward promoting peace and stability in the community.
