One of the bouncers implicated in a violent altercation at a nightclub in Suva has been apprehended by the police. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, confirmed that investigations are ongoing, with efforts to gather more individuals connected to the incident.

Driu urged the public to refrain from taking matters into their own hands and to allow law enforcement to handle the situation. He emphasized the importance of remaining calm, especially in light of the heightened emotions surrounding the brawl. “It’s crucial for those expressing anger on social media to exercise restraint. Acting impulsively will not help; in fact, it could escalate tensions,” he stated.

The police are actively investigating, with a team from Totogo Police Station currently in Namatakula Village gathering testimonies from witnesses and involved parties. Driu appealed for cooperation, urging everyone to provide statements and evidence to assist the investigation. He reassured the public that police will remain vigilant, monitoring social media comments to prevent further escalation.

As the New Year approaches, Driu expressed the commitment of the police force to ensure community safety, highlighting their presence and readiness to respond to any further issues.

In summary, while the situation remains tense following the nightclub brawl, the police’s proactive measures and calls for calm demonstrate their dedication to restoring safety and peace in the community. This approach offers hope for a resolution that prioritizes cooperation and understanding.
