Bouncer Arrested as Police Crack Down on Suva Nightclub Brawl

A nightclub bouncer linked to a violent altercation in Suva early yesterday has been taken into police custody. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu confirmed that authorities are actively identifying and apprehending additional individuals involved in the incident.

ACPO Driu urged the public to refrain from taking matters into their own hands, requesting that they allow law enforcement to conduct a thorough investigation. He advised those making threatening remarks on social media to remain calm, emphasizing that heightened emotions will not lead to resolution but rather exacerbate the situation.

In response to the brawl, a team of officers from the Totogo Police Station has been gathering statements from witnesses and individuals involved in the incident. “We encourage cooperation in providing statements and evidence. Patience is essential as we carry out our investigation,” Driu stated.

The police department is also monitoring social media, ensuring that no violent actions result from the incident. In light of the upcoming New Year celebrations, ACPO Driu reassured the community that police presence will be heightened to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.

This situation underscores the importance of remaining calm in times of distress and trusting law enforcement to address conflicts effectively. The proactive steps being taken by the police can lead to a resolution that promotes safety and community harmony.

In summary, local authorities are working diligently to manage the aftermath of the nightclub brawl and are committed to maintaining peace within the community as the New Year approaches.
