A nightclub bouncer linked to a violent altercation in Suva early yesterday morning has been apprehended by the police. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu confirmed that authorities are actively pursuing additional individuals associated with the incident.

Driu urged the public to refrain from reacting impulsively and to let law enforcement handle the situation. “All those making threats on social media need to stay calm. Emotions are still high at the moment, and we call on all parties to maintain their composure. Taking matters into your own hands will not resolve anything, it will only escalate the situation,” he stated.

The police are currently gathering statements from individuals involved in the incident, as well as witnesses, with a team stationed in Namatakula Village to facilitate this process. Driu emphasized the importance of cooperation from all parties for a thorough investigation, urging them to be patient while the police carry out their work.

In light of recent events, the police will closely monitor social media to prevent any further lawlessness. Driu reassured the community that the police will remain vigilant, particularly as they work to ensure everyone’s safety during the New Year celebrations.

This situation highlights the need for calm and unity within the community as police work diligently to address the incident and prevent further conflict. The emphasis on collaboration and patience from both law enforcement and community members is crucial in fostering a safer environment for everyone.
