Vilimoni Botitu, the Olympic gold medalist, has signed an extension to his contract with French Top 14 club Olympic Castres, which will keep him at the club until 2026. The 26-year-old has been with Castres since 2020 and has made 94 appearances in the prestigious French rugby competition.

Playing primarily as a center, Botitu joins a team lineup that includes notable players such as Jack Goodhue, Adrien Seguret, and fellow Fijian Adrea Cocagi. Expressing his satisfaction with the club, Botitu stated, “I decided to stay because I’m very happy at Castres. The club is like a family to me. It gave me opportunities, and I love the group that helps each other on and off the field.”

He emphasized the collaborative spirit of the team, noting, “Everyone works hard for the team and not for the individual. I am convinced that I still have fine things to live in Castres, even if, for family reasons, I am only prolonging my contract for the time being by one season.”

This ongoing commitment to Castres reflects Botitu’s dedication to both the sport and the community he has become a part of, suggesting a promising future for both him and the club. His decision to stay is a testament to the supportive environment at Castres, further strengthening their roster as they aim for continued success in the league.
