The Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) is developing a mechanism to streamline the tax obligations of micro and small enterprises. FRCS Chief Executive Officer Udit Singh stated that this initiative will involve reaching out to communities to conduct training sessions for small community-owned shops and other small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Singh noted that many enterprises are not eligible for tax due to not meeting the required threshold. There are currently more than one hundred thousand micro and small enterprises registered with the FRCS. Director of Taxation Momina Beg mentioned that this will target 18 different sectors.
