Footage shared on social media captures al Ahmed, a local fruit shop owner, rushing at the armed assailant who brandished a rifle. Demonstrating remarkable bravery, he tackles the gunman from behind and manages to wrestle the weapon away, even turning it back towards the attacker. As the situation escalates, the armed man retreats toward a bridge, where police later confirmed the presence of another suspected shooter.

The New South Wales Premier, Chris Minns, labeled al Ahmed “a genuine hero,” emphasizing that his actions likely saved numerous lives during this terrifying episode. Minns described the video as “the most unbelievable scene I’ve ever seen” and commended the bystander’s quick thinking.
