“Bogus Facebook Ad Scheme Lands Woman in Court: Details Revealed”

A 43-year-old woman is set to appear at the Sigatoka Magistrates Court today facing charges of allegedly obtaining financial advantage by deception through a fraudulent Facebook advertisement.

The suspect purportedly requested the victim to send money for a supposed investment, leading the victim to transfer $80. Subsequently, the suspect allegedly asked for an additional $200 to deliver a promised profit of $200.

The victim grew suspicious, consulted her mobile service provider, and reported the issue to the Tavua Police Station.

The accused faces one count of obtaining financial advantage by deception.

The public is advised to verify the authenticity of individuals or institutions before sending money, as legitimate entities typically do not conduct business via phone or messaging platforms.
