Ratu Naivalu Memorial School, located on Wayalailai Island in the Yasawa Group, has been the recipient of a new fibreglass boat along with an outboard engine, valued at $24,000. This initiative, announced by Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro, aims to provide better transportation for students from nearby villages, facilitating their safe travel to school.

During his recent visit to the Yasawa Islands, Minister Radrodro emphasized that this recent support will significantly enhance educational access for children in the region. The Ministry’s commitment to improving transportation is part of a broader strategy to address the unique challenges faced by students in remote areas.

Similar past initiatives reflect this dedication, including the delivery of a comparable boat and engine to Rewa Secondary School and St. Joseph’s Primary School. Such investments underscore the government’s aim to ensure that all students, regardless of their geographical circumstances, receive equitable access to quality education.

Furthermore, the operational costs of maintaining these boats are expected to be managed through the Free Education Grant (FEG), reinforcing the sustainability of this initiative.

This development not only symbolizes a step forward for educational accessibility in Fiji but also highlights the importance of building strong, supportive relationships within communities. By enhancing transportation options, the government is fostering environments where children have the opportunity to thrive, securing their futures in education and beyond.

This positive trend indicates that efforts to bridge geographical and logistical divides in education are gaining momentum, ultimately leading to a brighter future for students across Fiji.
