The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua were comprehensively beaten 40–15 by the Blues in their Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific round seven fixture at Eden Park in New Zealand tonight.

The Drua entered the break with the narrow lead, up 14–12, but the momentum flipped decisively in the second half. The Blues ran in three tries after the interval and converted one, while the Drua managed only a solitary penalty goal early in the second spell for their only points after halftime.

Eden Park's hosts tightened their defence and grew in control, repelling several desperate Drua forays into Blues territory. The visitors repeatedly threatened but could not find a way over the line, with the Blues forcing crucial handling errors and turnovers at key moments that stemmed any sustained Fijian pressure.

The final passage underlined the story of the match: a Drua knock-on from close quarters led to a Blues scrum, from which the hosts capitalised to score the game’s last try and put the result beyond doubt. That score completed a dominant second-half performance that saw the Blues pull away from what had been a tight contest at halftime.

For the Drua, the loss will be a tough lesson in finishing and ball security. Despite flashes of attacking threat in the first 40 minutes and taking a halftime lead, they were unable to convert territory and possession into second-half points. The lone penalty goal after the break was the only time they added to their tally while the Blues applied sustained pressure.

The defeat leaves the Drua needing to regroup as the Super Rugby Pacific season progresses. The Blues, meanwhile, take assurance from a match-winning second half and a defence that held firm when it counted, claiming a convincing victory in front of their home crowd at Eden Park.
