Nadi’s Blues FC made a strong comeback in the National Club Championship (NCC) held in Suva, following a challenging opening loss. The team delivered an impressive performance, defeating Fiends United FC with a commanding 4-0 victory at the Fiji FA Academy ground in Vatuwaqa.

Interim coach Gurdeep Singh expressed his satisfaction with the team’s resilience, stating, “The boys are happy. The morale is high.” He noted that the previous day’s loss served as a wake-up call for the players. After a period of self-reflection and discussion on their mistakes, they returned to the field stronger and more focused.

Despite facing challenges such as fatigue from their travel from Nadi to Suva and ongoing fitness concerns, the team showcased their determination to improve. Singh acknowledged the need for continued work on their fitness levels but emphasized their commitment to success in the tournament, declaring that they were determined to win the NCC.

Singh’s optimism is bolstered by the team’s talent, which includes a number of district representatives. He stated, “We’re determined to make this trip worthwhile and bring home the win.” This positive attitude is crucial as they strive to maintain discipline and effectiveness in converting chances moving forward.

In other matches of the tournament, Northpole FC secured a win against Flying Arrows FC (2-0), Buiduna FC narrowly defeated Rivals FC (1-0), while Downtown FC triumphed over Nakasi Police FC (2-1).

This victory not only boosts the team’s morale but also sets a hopeful tone for the remainder of the championship. With a strong resolve and a willingness to learn from their past mistakes, Nadi’s Blues FC appears well-positioned to make a significant impact in the tournament.
