The third Naboutini Transport Namalata Kadavu 7s tournament is on track to kick off from December 10 to 12 at the Namalata Central School Ground in Vunisea, Kadavu, following a significant boost from a local sponsor. The tournament organizing committee recently received T-shirts from BLK, showcasing their continued commitment to supporting grassroots rugby in the region.
Donasiano Kalou, the Sales and Marketing Manager at BLK, expressed pride in the ongoing partnership with the Namalata 7s committee, which has been thriving for the past two years. He highlighted the dedication of the volunteers involved in organizing the tournament, stating that their hard work plays a crucial role in making such events possible.
The funds raised during this tournament will be allocated to support various annual projects at Namalata Central School. Tournament director Malakai Yamaivava acknowledged BLK’s support, emphasizing the significance of community collaboration. He noted that the tournament has already garnered interest from over 24 teams, with expectations to reach at least 32 teams, including youth and women’s categories, which reflects the growing enthusiasm for rugby in the area.
In addition to fostering athletic talent, events like the Kadavu 7s play a vital role in community engagement and development. The local community is encouraged to come out and support the participating teams, strengthening the ties between sports and regional pride.
