Last month, new bird stamps were unveiled to commemorate the national day for Fiji and the People’s Republic of China. The event was co-organized by several entities, including the China Academy of Art and the Fiji-China Friendship Association.
The bird stamps are a collaborative project between the Chinese Cultural Centre and Post Fiji, with the backing of the Chinese Embassy.
Stamp designer Guo Zhiyi explained that the stamps symbolize the strong relationship between Fiji and China. “They reflect the friendship through images of birds in their natural habitats,” Mr. Guo stated in an interview. He emphasized that this imagery serves as a reminder of our ecosystems and the necessity of protecting them.
According to Mr. Guo, the stamps highlight the commitment of both nations to sustainable development, particularly in environmental protection and the preservation of natural habitats.
Post Fiji’s CEO Isaac Mow mentioned that these new stamps are part of a series that they have previously released in partnership with the Chinese Cultural Centre. “We have launched many other stamps similar to this one in the past, and I believe it’s a fantastic way to promote the friendship between our two countries,” Mr. Mow remarked. He added that stamps serve as a platform to showcase Fiji to the world, especially in the context of tourism.
