Binnu Singh Captures Interim WBA Oceania Title in Second-Round KO, Targets Rematch

Junior Binnu Singh showcased his prowess in the boxing ring with a remarkable performance at the Vodafone Arena, where he secured a second-round technical knockout victory against Apichart Klintai, earning the WBA Oceania Interim title in the Super Bantamweight category. The fight, held during the Stratum Construction Zeg Kings Boxing Promotions event, ended shortly into the second round after the referee halted the bout due to the barrage of body shots delivered by Singh.

Following his victory, Singh expressed a strong desire for a rematch with Runqi Zhou, the Australian boxer who previously defeated him earlier this year. Singh’s determination to avenge that loss signifies his competitive spirit and commitment to becoming a top contender.

The evening was also a significant one for Fiji boxing, as national champion Mikaele Ravalaca clinched the WBA Oceania lightweight title with an impressive TKO win over Australia’s Francis Chua in the seventh round. Ravalaca’s performance added to the night’s accolades, highlighting the growing recognition of boxing talent in Fiji and providing a morale boost for local fans.

In addition to Singh and Ravalaca’s triumphs, several other notable fights took place during the event. Junior Abhay Chand experienced a setback, losing to Isikeli Senidoko via a second-round knockout. Meanwhile, Andrew Maloney achieved a TKO victory against Pawan Kumar after the referee called an early stop in their Super Bantamweight matchup. Felise Nabua faced defeat against India’s Rohit Rohit, with Nabua’s corner throwing in the towel just 53 seconds into the sixth round.

Keanu Nadan made his mark with a first-round knockout of Apisai Naqica, and Fiji’s heavyweight champion Semi Dauloloma continued to impress by knocking out Savenaca Tuiratu in the second round. Other results included Aarti Hoodha winning by points against Laite Nanovu, Kimo Vakalalabure defeating Rev Anand via points, and New Zealand’s Larnce Claerk triumphing over Senivalati Ratu by TKO.

The excitement generated during this event not only highlights the depth of talent in Fijian boxing but also sets a hopeful tone for the future of the sport in the region. The strong performances from local boxers like Singh and Ravalaca could inspire the next generation of fighters, fueling a revival in Fijian boxing and encouraging greater support for the sport. As Singh looks toward potential rematches and further bouts, the boxing community eagerly anticipates his future endeavors.
