Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad has urged Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry to be truthful and provide concrete evidence regarding the allegations that he was charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) for submitting false statutory declarations to the Registrar of Political Parties.

“Go and ask him what the truth is,” Prof Prasad stated in response to inquiries about Mr. Chaudhry’s assertions. He emphasized the need to verify the accuracy of the claims. “That’s my comment, and where are his sources of information?”

In response, Mr. Chaudhry mentioned that a Board of Inquiry would clarify the situation. Earlier, Prof Prasad informed The Fiji Times that his legal team has already reached out to FICAC and dismissed any grounds for charges.

Efforts to obtain a comment from FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali were unsuccessful.
