The National Development Plan (NDP) is set to be launched next Tuesday, officiated by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Biman Prasad stated that the event will mark the beginning of an extensive NDP aimed at fostering national unity and establishing a collective vision for social, economic, and political growth.

Mr. Prasad emphasized the potential for the country to achieve significant wealth within the next 25 to 30 years, contingent on moving away from the status quo. He highlighted the importance of political stability, consistent policies, and a transparent, consultative, and accountable government approach.

The Ministry of Finance is leading the initiative, which will build upon the insights gained from the Economic Summit, the Fiscal Review Committee report, and the outcomes from the Education Summit. Mr. Prasad expressed the government’s confidence in leaving behind a legacy characterized by a political culture and leadership that ensure a peaceful, transparent, and accountable transition of power from one administration to another.
