Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has announced plans to meet with representatives from the United States and Europe in Berlin to discuss the “fundamentals of peace.” Zelenskiy emphasized the importance of achieving a “dignified” peace for Ukraine, one that includes assurances against future aggression from Russia, which launched an invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

On Saturday, Germany confirmed it would host delegations from both the U.S. and Ukraine over the weekend to engage in discussions aimed at establishing a ceasefire. This meeting sets the stage for a subsequent summit in Berlin on Monday, where European leaders will also convene to explore pathways towards peace in the region.

The upcoming talks signify a continued commitment from Ukraine and its allies to pursue diplomatic solutions amidst the ongoing conflict. This effort underscores the urgency of finding a stable resolution that not only addresses the immediate military concerns but also lays the groundwork for long-lasting security in Ukraine.
