Beachcomber Island Resort is set to undergo a transformative $10 million renovation aimed at elevating it to a four-star destination. Following its acquisition by Vision Hotels Australia, the renovation efforts began under the guidance of experienced hoteliers, brothers Mark and Brendon Deeley. With a track record of successfully managing over 20 properties, including the notable Iririki Island Resort and Spa in Vanuatu, the Deeley brothers are primed to breathe new life into this historic resort.

Investment Fiji has detailed the renovation plans, which will encompass a complete overhaul of existing rooms, upgrades to communal areas, and the addition of new accommodations. The project is expected to culminate in March 2025, with 38 rooms fully renovated by March and an additional 12 ready by June. The final phase will introduce 40 new rooms, expanding the resort’s total capacity to 90.

Notably, this renovation aligns with efforts to not only enhance the guest experience but also bolster Fiji’s tourism industry, which has experienced fluctuations in recent years. Tourism Fiji’s CEO, Brent Hill, has highlighted the importance of such investments, particularly those that engage with local communities and respect cultural traditions. The renovation is expected to create 50 temporary jobs during construction and an additional 50 permanent positions once fully operational.

Investment projections indicate that the resort will aim for an impressive 32,000 room nights and welcome around 9,000 guests annually following the project’s completion. This development will not only kickstart the resort’s new chapter but also signal a hopeful resurgence in Fiji’s tourism landscape, providing opportunities for local economic growth and employment.

Overall, the renovation of Beachcomber Island Resort represents not just an upgrade of facilities, but a significant step towards revitalizing the broader tourism sector in Fiji. The collaborative approach taken by Vision Hotels and the Deeley brothers ensures that local customs and community benefits remain a priority, fostering a positive outlook for the region’s future in hospitality.
