Western rugby league clubs are preparing for an intense competition as they compete against Suva/Nasinu zone teams in the Vodafone Cup National Elimination Round at Lawaqa Park today. A total of 16 clubs are participating, with nine from the Suva/Nasinu zone and seven representing the Western region, all aiming for a place in next week’s quarter-finals.

The Western teams include the defending champions, Saru Dragons, alongside Ravoravo Rabbitohs, West Coast Storm, Namoli West Tigers, Waitaci Titans, Conua Kingfisher, and Laselase Cowboys. Each squad has been gearing up diligently for this pivotal phase of the tournament.

Fiji National Rugby League West development officer Jone Wesele emphasized the Saru Dragons’ commitment to defending their title while noting the competitive spirit from other Western clubs like the Ravoravo Rabbitohs and Namoli West Tigers. Wesele stated, “The Western clubs are not just here to participate; they are well-prepared to win.”

Last year, only two Western teams made it to the quarter-finals, but today, they are focused on increasing that number and securing more opportunities.
