Less than a day after experiencing significant flooding due to heavy rainfall, the 4R Electrical Govind Park in Ba has demonstrated an impressive recovery, showcasing the effectiveness of its newly upgraded turf system. Images shared online revealed sections of the ground submerged under water after extended rainfalls. However, by the next day, the surface had drained remarkably well, showing no evidence of waterlogging. This efficient recovery is particularly timely, with the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua scheduled to play in Ba next weekend for the first time.
Moshim Khan, the Special Administrator for Ba Town Council, emphasized that the rapid drainage highlights the quality and design of the field. “The turf has been designed to prevent waterlogging, making it possible to host games even during rainy conditions,” Khan stated.
The innovative drainage system, a key feature of the recent upgrades, is intended to channel excess water quickly and effectively, thus reducing disruption to sporting events even during severe weather. With excitement mounting for the Drua’s inaugural match in Ba, the quick recovery serves as a reassurance that the venue will be prepared to facilitate high-level rugby, regardless of the weather.
