Banking Scandal: Trio Charged with $140,000 Fraud

Three men accused of defrauding over $140,000 from the Bank South Pacific have confirmed that they have received full disclosures regarding their case. Alexander Fong, Hirdesh Chand, and Ifran Hussein are facing charges of acquiring financial benefits through deception.

Mr. Fong, previously a senior manager at BSP, is alleged to have conspired with Mr. Chand and Mr. Hussein to defraud the bank by privately selling eight vehicles without adhering to proper procedures, between December 8, 2018, and December 21, 2022.

The trial for the accused trio is set to begin from August 5 to August 14 next year, as confirmed during a hearing before Magistrate Yogesh Prasad at the Suva Magistrate’s Court on September 3. They are scheduled to return for the pretrial conference commencement on November 28.
