KONTIKI Finance has enhanced the upcoming Banana Cup tournament with a generous sponsorship of $2,000, presented by marketing manager Joni Moce at the Suva Bowling Club yesterday. This partnership follows Kontiki’s successful support of the Pineapple Cup last month, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to promoting local sports initiatives.

The Banana Cup, a prestigious national event that has been celebrated for over 60 years, is predicted to draw between 20 to 30 participants, including promising young players under 20 and national representatives.

Event coordinator Litia Tikoisuva expressed her anticipation for the tournament, remarking, “We are looking forward to a good weekend, and may the best team win.” She highlighted the tournament’s unpredictability, noting how seasoned players might find themselves challenged by emerging talents. “We have some national reps participating, but if it’s your day, it’s your day. No matter how good you are, you can be beaten by a fairly new bowler,” she added.

Moce encouraged families and community members to come out and support the tournament this weekend, emphasizing the strategic and precise nature of the sport, which promises to be engaging and entertaining, with food and beverages available for attendees. “It’s a beautiful sport because it’s not only about rolling the ball, but about strategy and precision as well. I urge all family and friends to come down this weekend to check out the competition,” Moce stated.

As the excitement builds, both Kontiki Finance and the tournament organizers are eager to unite the community for a memorable event. The Banana Cup competition is scheduled to take place this Saturday at the Suva Bowling Club starting at 9 AM.

This sponsorship signifies an uplifting moment for local sports and underlines the importance of community involvement in fostering athletic talent. The blend of expertise and fresh competitors promises to make the Banana Cup a thrilling event filled with vibrant community spirit.
