Ballantine School Fun Day Surpasses Fundraising Goals!

The Fun Day at Ballantine Memorial School, held at the FMF Gymnasium, was filled with excitement and joy. The event brought together students, alumni, parents, and supporters to raise funds for school projects, generating a total of $53,957.65.

Fotu Yavala, chairman and manager of Ballantine Memorial School, initially aimed to raise $45,000 to fund renovation work on the computer lab, restrooms, and dormitories. He expressed gratitude for the exceeding amount raised, which will directly benefit these improvement projects.

This year, attendance from alumni was lower, as many are currently preparing for the school’s upcoming 90th anniversary celebration next month. Yavala noted that some alumni from Vatulele made a special effort to attend, highlighting their dedication by traveling by boat for the event. He also acknowledged parents who journeyed from the West to support the cause.

Yavala expressed his appreciation for the contributions made by students, parents, and teachers in the lead-up to the Fun Day. He acknowledged the extensive support from parents, which surpassed expectations.

The Fun Day commenced with a significant contribution of $15,000 from the school’s board members. Year 9 students followed with $6,547 raised, alongside other impressive contributions from the various year groups. The alumni of Vatulele donated $2,200, and there were additional contributions from both local businesses and patrons.

Notably, Year 9 students received recognition for raising the most money among their peers during the event.
