Josese Cagica, who grew up in a food-loving family, was inspired to pursue a culinary career and establish his own bakery. At the recent Miss Hibiscus Festival, he took the opportunity to employ local youths from Nadera, offering them a chance to earn a living. Cagica described his experience at the festival as unique, despite the hurdles he faces in making his name known in the industry.

“Being here at the Miss Hibiscus Festival is a unique opportunity for me, especially as I introduce new pastries which could become popular in town,” he remarked. He emphasized that events like the Hibiscus Festival provide valuable opportunities for business owners to enhance their visibility in the market.

Cagica is dedicated not only to growing his brand, ‘The Cake Lab,’ but also to helping local youths through job creation. He is motivated by the festival’s spirit and is committed to giving back to the community, aiming to improve his own living standards and those of the young individuals around him. The encouragement from his parents, family, and friends has been a significant source of strength for him.

“I am now receiving local orders as well as requests from Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Africa,” he shared. Despite facing challenges, Cagica views this phase of his journey as a blessing rather than a setback.
