The bail hearing for a 25-year-old man accused of murdering his pregnant wife in an apartment in Suva has been rescheduled for October 31. Apisai Madigibuli appeared in Suva High Court before Justice Dane Tuiqereqere for the hearing. Madigibuli’s attorney, Paula Gade, requested additional time to review new documents received prior to the hearing.
During a previous court session, state lawyer Monisha Naidu stated that the prosecution’s case against Madigibuli is robust, supported by CCTV footage and a post-mortem report. Naidu also noted that Madigibuli had been using a mobile phone while in remand to communicate with his daughter, who currently lives with the sister of the deceased, a key state witness, in Savusavu.
Madigibuli is accused of fatally stabbing Kitiana Baravilala with a kitchen knife on April 25.
