Emosi Tikoicina has been granted bail by the High Court in relation to allegations of arson at the Navuso Agricultural Technical Institute located in Nausori. The hearing was conducted by Justice Thushara Rajasinghe this afternoon.

The judge has imposed strict conditions on Tikoicina, prohibiting him from contacting prosecution witnesses and committing any further offenses while on bail. Additionally, he is barred from entering the Technical Institute premises.

During the proceedings, State Counsel Zenith Zunaid informed the court that Tikoicina had confessed to a fellow student at the Institute about the incident. Tikoicina had previously pleaded not guilty to the charges in May.

He faces one count of arson, under section 362(a) of the Crimes Act 2009, for allegedly setting fire to the building and its contents on April 7, 2024, in the Eastern Division of Nausori. The case is scheduled for mention again on September 30.
