A significant warning has been issued regarding the Back-to-School Support initiative, which offers $200 to eligible families. The Ministry of Finance has made it clear that individuals who submit false claims could face severe penalties, including a fine of $20,000 or a jail term of up to 10 years. This enforcement is grounded in the False Information Act of 2016, emphasizing the serious nature of providing inaccurate information to the government.

To ensure the integrity of the application process, parents and guardians are encouraged to have their applications witnessed by an authorized representative. This could be a School Principal, an Education Officer, a Justice of Peace, a Commissioner for Oaths, a Labour Officer, or any other designated official listed by the Ministry.

The application period for the Back-to-School Support program began on October 31, 2024, and will conclude on December 6, 2024, providing ample time for families to apply without rush.

This initiative not only aims to support families in managing education costs but also underscores the importance of honesty in governmental interactions, creating a trustworthy system for all participants. By adhering to the guidelines, parents can ensure that they benefit from this initiative and contribute to a fairer process for everyone involved.
