The Ministry of Finance has announced the successful distribution of $43.1 million in back-to-school support for the year, aiding 213,520 students across the nation. This assistance was delivered through various channels, including MPAiSA, MyCASH, and Post Fiji outlets, which facilitate ease of access for families.
As this year’s assistance program concludes, the Ministry expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Education, school heads, teachers, students, parents, and guardians for their unwavering support and cooperation during the application process. This collaborative effort underscores the community’s commitment to fostering educational preparedness, providing vital resources that help alleviate financial burdens associated with school expenses.
This year’s initiative builds on previous efforts, where earlier distributions significantly benefitted families. For instance, the earlier reported initiatives by the Ministry provided substantial support, allocating $200 for each eligible child to cover necessary expenses like uniforms and stationery. The program has historically supported around 200,000 students annually, reflecting a consistent government investment of approximately $130 million in educational assistance.
As families prepare for a new academic year, this timely financial aid offers hope and relief, allowing students to step into their educational journeys well-equipped. The proactive measures taken by the government to ensure early disbursement highlight a continuous commitment to enhancing accessibility to education and fostering a bright future for all students.
